Job Description:
  • The Hygiene Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations of Stella Maris Center and facilitating bathing and laundry services for individuals living on the street. All employees are expected to learn and exhibit the core values of Catholic Services of Acadiana as defined in the employee handbook and on the CSA website (www.catholicservice.org/being-a-csa-employee).
  • Duties will include but are not limited to the following: Stella Maris Operations
  • Welcome clients to breakfast in St. Joseph's Diner, complete the breakfast list of eligible clients, redirect clients with expired eligibility to Assessment Coordinator, and others presenting for services to Diversion Coordinator
  • Open the Stella Maris Center timely and facilitate client sign-in for services
  • Scan client services cards upon sign-in and record services in the homeless management information system within 24 hours of service
  • Maintain service queue
  • Direct clients to appropriate showers, washers and dryers
  • Distribute hygiene items and clothing as needed
  • Follow sanitation protocol between showers and at end of the day
  • Ensure all towels are washed and folded daily
  • Restock supplies as needed, and notify supervisor before supplies are depleted
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
  • Monitor equipment and request repairs in coordination with supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, with two years of service coordination or related social service experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of homelessness and housing programs helpful
  • Experience providing services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness
  • Exceptional problem resolution skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Valid LA driver's license and an insured motor vehicle in which to transport clients
  • Job Specifications
  • Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 100% of the time.
