Job Description:
  • Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC pneumatic and electronic control systems, pneumatic control valves for chill water, steam, and hot water. Repairs and installs tubing, piping, and valves on air, water, and steam systems 
  • Makes repairs to air handling equipment; i.e., replaces bearings, belts, pulleys, and air filters 
  • Solders, brazes, and welds metal. Checks and adjusts air handling systems for proper air flow, temperature, and humidity 
  • Performs the duties of the Plant Operator as Relief Operator as needed 
  • Assists in performing required testing on the fire alarm system and other systems as required. Adjusts tamper and flow switches when needed 
  • Repairs and/or replaces pressure reducing valves, pressure regulating valves, and relief valves for steam, water, and air systems 
  • Insulates piping systems 
  • Services and maintains rooftop units, split DX systems, and Liebert air conditioning units 
  • Uses refrigerant recovery equipment when servicing refrigerant based systems 
  • Must have knowledge of the operations of energy management systems/controls

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate with good reading and writing skills 
  • Graduate of a technical school or journeyman program in air conditioning 
  • Previous five (5) years experience as a journeyman HVAC technician with specific experience as described in the position description 
  • Refrigerant technician certification, Type III minimum required 
  • A licensed journeyman HVAC mechanic is preferred
