Job Description:
  • News15, the FOX and NBC affiliate in Lafayette, La, has an immediate opening for a full-time Content Manager/Web Producer
  • This person will work as part of the News and Creative Services team to gather, organize and disperse news content on all News15 platforms including TV, our website, social media, mobile, etc. 
  • The Content Manager/Web Producer will be responsible for the design and flow of the website, using WordPress to add to and enhance functionality as our news operation grows, and constantly updating content for the website based on breaking news, weather, sports, and ongoing news stories
  •  This person will also work with the Director of Sales to implement online Sales Initiatives and create and manage sales inventory components, and will work with Creative Services to place top-notch banner and display ads
Qualifications:
  • Experience as a producer or on an assignment desk is preferred
  • You'll have to work quickly, responsibly and independently, and – in addition to producing content in the latest news stories - will work in consultation with MMJs on posting their daily stories with an emphasis on their look and readability across online and mobile platforms
  •  Experience in maintaining and developing a Broadcast website is also preferred, along with creating and maintaining a broadcast property’s social media brand and content
  • This person should be both an effective producer of online content and a journalist who can generate new content, write effectively using AP standards, and communicate effectively with fellow employees
  • You will work with reporters and photographers in the field to strategize on securing relevant content catered to online resources and you will also have to work with and assist all positions in the newsroom, so the ability to work well with others and exercise excellent news judgement is a must
  • Comparing to traditional newsroom roles, this would be a mix of assignment desk manager and web producer, with most time spent on updating kadn.com and our social media sites
  • Experience Sought:
  • Technical knowledge of web and social media functions as well as strong editorial judgment
  • Ability to work with others. Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Strong time-management skills with minimum need for oversight
  • Ability to deal with constantly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Creativity, people skills, and a positive, can-do attitude are needed
  • Well informed of what’s happening in the local, national and international news each day
  • Strong news writing skills and understanding of current events 
  • The ability to troubleshoot any functionality problems with the website and social media platforms
  • A flexible schedule to allow for occasional overnight, weekend and holiday shifts
