Job Description:
  • Website/Vermilionville Mobile App:
  • Responsible for updating the calendar of events portion of the website quarterly with ongoing and special events
  • Responsible for ensuring all information on the website is up to date and accurate
  • Responsible for handling all inquiries generated from the website and forwarding to the appropriate department(s)
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting monthly traffic totals
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Vermilionville’s mobile app when necessary
  • Social Media:
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Bayou Vermilion District’s various social media outlets, including but not limited to the following:
  • The Bayou Vermilion District, Vermilionville, La Boutique at Vermilionville and La Cuisine de Maman’s Facebook pages
  • The Bayou Vermilion District and Vermilionville’s Instagram accounts
  • The Bayou Vermilion District and Vermilionville’s Twitter accounts
  • Vermilionville’s Snapchat account
  • Newsletter:
  • Responsible for coordinating with all departments to gather information for the quarterly newsletter
  • Responsible for updating the newsletter template with information and images as well as coordinating the printing and mailing to members
  • Special Events:
  • Responsible for creating/implementing a promotional plan for all special events
  • Responsible for creating promotional material for all special events including, but not limited to posters, flyers, programs with map and list of activities, event signage, attendee and exhibitor surveys and attendee takeaways
  • Responsible for coordinating media both before and the day of each special event as applicable
  • Responsible for documenting each special event with images/video for promotional use 
  • Responsible for aiding the coordinator of each special event with any help they may need
  • Media:
  • Responsible for maintaining relations with all print, radio and television media by sending monthly events release
  • Responsible for generating press releases for special events and other activities that are newsworthy
  • Responsible for maintaining an up to date media list that consist of print (daily, weekly and monthly publications), radio, television, travel writers and bloggers Eblasts
  • Responsible for sending an email every Friday to subscribers about upcoming events as well as writing an introduction focusing on events taking place that weekend
  • Responsible for sending out an email every Monday to restaurant subscribers with the weekly specials along with an introduction focusing on events taking place pertaining to the restaurant or the village 
  • Responsible for monitoring new subscribers as well as unsubscribers and open/click through rates of all eblasts
  • Budget:
  • Responsible for submitting a projected budget for the year no later than the first of November 
  • Responsible for documenting expenses throughout the year and ensuring the department stays within budget
  • Responsible for providing a report that compares the projected budget to the actual budget making edits/additions for the next year due no later than the first of October Board Report 
  • Responsible for compiling a monthly board report that gives detailed information about what has been done in the department for the past month as well as goals for the next month. Should include audience research and development statistics, such as visitor demographics, revenue, program attendance, online engagement, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 year degree from an accredited university in relevant field such as marketing, public relations, mass communication, advertising, etc.
  • Minimum 2 years of work or experience in related field
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple large projects simultaneously 
  • Excellent creative and business writing skills (press release, brochures, flyers, etc.)
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to adhere to and maintain a departmental budget
  • Basic working knowledge of tourism/hospitality industry and/or natural resource/environmental industry
  • Experience with design applications such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator as well as Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Ability to read, write and speak French is strongly preferred but not required
