Job Description:
  • The Bell Helicopter – Lafayette Assembly Center (LAC), located in Lafayette, Louisiana is currently searching for an experienced Quality Assurance Inspector with an aerospace/assembly background. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day standard inspection and non-destructive inspection of the Bell 525 Relentless cabin assembly structure
  • All LAC team members are expected to work together as one team across functional boundaries. Where qualified and when possible, all team members can be asked to participate in production activities, including maintenance, logistics, kitting, and structure assembly in an effort to insure that a quality product is delivered to the customer on time
  • This position is for 1st shift, working a 4x10 schedule. 1st shift typically works Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. The shift assignment could change at a later date, depending on production needs. Overtime and weekend work may be required at management discretion
  • Primary Position Responsibilities:
  • Operate standard and specialized inspection and dimensional equipment as required
  • Use standard and specialized inspection tools, including dimensional tools, hand and marking tools, electricians and/or aviation mechanics tools as required
  • Work from complicated or detailed blueprints, digital models, diagrams, engineering orders, etc., to obtain requirements and engineering specifications
  • Approve conforming work and reject work which fails to meet required standards, including formal documentation of nonconformance’s
  • Prepare inspection and non-conformance reports and related data as part of the aircraft assembly process
  • Responsibility for internal quality control, including internal audits, formal documentation of audit findings and root cause corrective action
  • Adhere to and follow all applicable policies, procedures and approved Bell Helicopter processes
  • May be assigned to various assembly inspection groups or to other phases of inspection of equal or lower level at a later date
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Level II non-destructive inspection certification (including Ultrasonic, Eddy Current and
    Liquid Penetrant inspection)
  • Familiarity using precision dimensional and measurement equipment
  • 5+ years of assembly inspection experience. Aircraft assembly experience may be
    considered in conjunction with assembly inspection experience
  • At least one year aircraft assembly experience preferred
  • Familiarity with general computer systems, including standard software systems
  • Preferred knowledge of using and reading aircraft blueprints & engineering drawings
  • AS9100 familiarity preferred
  • Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to safely move parts and tools onto and off of the aircraft and to use/manipulate objects –such as tools and parts – with a high degree of precision
  • Employee must also be able to safely access and/or work in all areas of the aircraft for the purpose of inspecting the assembly; this may require the employee to work inside confined spaces and at heights, to perform overhead work, and/or to work from step stools, ladders, scissor lifts, lift platforms, and/or aircraft structures without handrails
