Job Title: Watershed Interpreter
Part-time
Job Description:
- Provide interpretive presentations and general tours of the Watershed Exhibit for museum visitors
- Conduct formal lessons for school groups who have schedule Watershed Exhibit tours
- Lead guided paddle trips in the Bayou Vermilion
- Assist in Special Event Day Activities such as culture days and summer camp programs
- Maintain Watershed equipment and document in maintenance log book
- Routinely clean-up and maintain exhibit area: cleaning glass and windows, sweeping, emptying trash cans, etc.
- Research topics addressed in the exhibit: in order to learn as much as there is to know about each topic so that when asked questions by visitors intelligent answers can be offered
- Report maintenance issues and other related problems to supervisor
- Background and working knowledge in Earth Sciences
- Positive attitude and good public speaking skills
- College graduate or pursuing a degree
- Prior canoeing and kayak paddling experience
- Must be self-motivated to learn about new things, research and be certain of facts
- Must be able to trouble shoot simple mechanical problems and watershed equipment
- Speaking French is a plus but not a requirement
