Job Description: 
  • A newly established Telecommunications Service Provider based in Scott, LA is accepting applications for a Network/Field Engineer
  • The successful candidate will possess strong experience with a variety of network and systems technologies, strong troubleshooting skills, ability to work with school district IT administrators who may have little or no knowledge of their existing network, as well as excellent documentation and communication skills
  • The Network/Field Engineer’s responsibilities include:
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of Ethernet functionality to include K-12 networks
  • Work with client IT administrators to determine the best solution to the district’s needs
  • Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
  • General IT support for the company
  • Perform pre-bid walk thrus as required throughout TX, AR,LA,MS and AL
  • Network design, estimation, and bid submittal as required
  • Pre-sales research on existing service provider costs and technologies
  • Field installation of equipment as required and dictated by successful bid awards in TX, AR,LA,MS and AL
  • Perform Tier II troubleshooting and maintenance support as required
  • Obtaining telecom circuit quotations from ILECs as required

Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years IT experience in a support role or related area
  • Proficient with TCP/IP technologies
  • Possess advanced routing skills and be able to deploy, upgrade and troubleshoot firewalls, ASAs, routers, managed switches, wireless controllers and WAPs
  • Working knowledge of Cisco, HP, Extreme, and other mainstream industry routers and/or managed switches
  • High school diploma
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Experience working with a Telecom or in the telecommunications industry
  • Experience with the E-Rate program
  • Experience in K-12 networks
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
