Job Description:
- Participate in an Agile Scrum team process, collaborating closely with developers, architects, test engineers, and fellow operations engineers
- Create and maintain Hadoop clusters and support various component/supporting services (Ambari. Spark, HBase, etc.)
- Document and automate Hadoop administration and related system administration tasks, training fellow operations engineers when needed
- Support fellow operations engineers in maintaining and enhancing application CI/CD pipeline and environments
- Mentor other operations engineers in Hadoop administration best practices, participate in peer reviews of operations automation code and technical design meetings
- Troubleshoot and support application problems
- BS in Computer Science (or related field) and 2-5 years of experience in Hadoop administration or Linux system administration combined with experience administering distributed applications
- Experience in contemporary infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible and Vagrant, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager Templates
- Hands on experience working with HDFS, Oozie, Sqoop, Hive, and Spark
- Excellent knowledge in troubleshooting Hadoop cluster issues
- Strong Linux system administration experience and some Windows system administration experience (user/group management, storage management, patching and hardening)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders and work in a team environment across multiple geographies
- DESIRED:
- Experience administering production Hadoop clusters on a variety of virtualization platforms, whether atop IaaS offerings or leveraging CSP PaaS offerings
- Experience administering RDBMS platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Working knowledge of NoSQL platforms such as Cassandra/MongoDB or In memory data platforms such as HANA
- Experience with network engineering, firewall configuration, monitoring tools (Nagios, Icinga, Prometheus), log aggregation tools (ELK, GrayLog)
- Experience with: Hashicorp Consul, Vault, Vagrant, and Terraform; Puppet; Docker and Docker Swarm; Jenkins
- Experience with distributed source control systems, preferably Git or Stash
- The ability obtain a SECRET level clearance is a plus
