Job Description:
  • Manage and operate a dedicated Microsoft based virtualization platform supporting development, test, and production environments
  • Configure and monitor backups using Microsoft Data Protection Manager 
  • Configure and review service monitoring in Microsoft Operations Manager
  • Develop automated provisioning scripts utilizing Microsoft System Center 2012 
  • Conduct daily system administration activities including patching, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and supporting application developers
  • Troubleshoot and support networking and storage problems
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Windows Server administration
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (equivalent experience considered) 
  • Knowledge of public cloud solutions (e.g. Azure, AWS) 
  • Hands on experience using Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS offerings
  • Microsoft Server 2008 - 2012 R2 including Storage Spaces, Scale Out File Servers and Hyper-V  
  • Microsoft Active Directory administration of policies, groups, and users  
  • Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 including Virtual Machine Manager and Operations Manager  
  • Keen attention to detail with proven analytical, evaluative, and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of scripting languages in support of Windows platforms (e.g. Powershell) 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders and work in a team environment across multiple geographies
  • Performance tuning and capacity planning fundamentals 
  • Technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including routers, network switches, LAN/WAN protocols, such as DNS, SSL, VPN, IPv4/6 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Internet Information Server (IIS) 7.0+ 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Network Load Balancing (NLB) 
  • Federal government experience preferred 
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products
