Job Description:
- 1Provide demonstration of a craft/s of the Atakapas Region between 1765 and 1890 for guests of all ages and backgrounds. This may also include ‘odds and ends’ jobs around the village, also performed in an accurate historical impression
- Provide historical information of craft and building presented in an interesting manner to guests from a variety of backgrounds and ages. Material must be age appropriate
- Follow daily rotations when multiple groups are visiting the property
- Assist Museum Operations with summer camp programs
- Assist Museum Operations in preparation for special event days
- Participate in tasks outside of regular scope during special event days
- Protect the artifacts in your home from visitors touching them
- Conduct craft workshops for visitors on an as-needed basis
- Attend all artisan staff meetings and training sessions
- Follow all policies and procedures in the personnel manual
- Keep your work area clean, and free of non-historically accurate items
- Keep all ‘non-period’ items out of sight of our guests
- Excellent public speaking abilities
- Must be able to learn to demonstrate one or more historic crafts, trades, or skills
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in the various weather conditions of South Louisiana
- Must be able to move unassisted through the village, carrying 15lbs
- Preference given to those that speak French
- Preference given to those with knowledge and experience in the Cajun, Creole, or Native American cultures
