Job Title: Healthcare Metadata Analyst

Job Description:
  • Working with subject matter specialists, and catalogers to identify appropriate metadata standards 
  • Tagging the metadata for various data sources and keeping the information up to date in central repositories
  • Translating metadata between formats and integrating metadata from a variety of sources
  • Address issues of master data definition, metadata acquisition and data migration including data profiling, validation, clean-up and remediation
  • The metadata analyst will partner with application SMEs to gain a deep understanding of source data as well as transformation, cleansing, or aggregation rules that impact MDM
  • The metadata analyst will also be required to document the findings – this will help as reference for cross-training and issue resolution
Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to analyze metadata from a health perspective
  • Knowledge of healthcare business 
  • Understand what data is needed to address a business question and how to analyze it and interpret results
  • Ability to write basic SQL and knowledge of relational databases
  • Proficient in the use of computers and programs that specialize in data collection and data management 
  • Demonstrate acumen in data profiling and data modeling 
  • Ability to work independently on projects with minimal direction  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective team player  
  • Ability to document processes and findings is essential to be successful in the role 
  • Excellent communication skills are a must as the analyst will be required to interface with application SMEs and present findings
  • 5+ years related experience with metadata analysis in the field of healthcare / insurance data
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in health informatics, computer science, statistics or mathematics
